How to Pick Wedding Favours with Flavour?

Your wedding will most likely be glorious and memorable, and the people to primarily contribute to this glory will be the friends and families who grace the occasion with their presence.

To show them that you appreciate their presence on your big day and they play an integral role in the festivities, be sure to select your wedding favors with utmost care. Besides just buying the favours off the shelf, making these little indulgences personalized is what gets etched in the minds of your friends and family.

Here are some innovative and pocket-friendly wedding favour trends that you can choose from.

Confine it to Confectioneries

Chocolates, candies, cupcakes and cookies are sweet treats you just can’t go wrong with. Though these favors have been done to death, no wedding guest has frowned upon discovering a sugary delight in their goody bag. Nothing speaks of love and thanks better than a lovely little mint-flavored after or mouth freshener. Another benefit to presenting candied surprises is that they make appealing, multicolored gift bags that’ll look classy any way they’re wrapped.

Components of Joy

Ingredients and spices are unconventional favors, but they’re definitely the most thoughtful and practical. Little bottles of olive oil or rosemary customized with the wedding guests’ names on it would speak much gratitude for the flavor your guests brought to your wedding celebrations. A little case of saffron or jar of cardamom for your Indian guests would prove auspicious and a refreshing change from the usual mithais.

Brew Some Love!

Tea, coffee and cocoa can make for unique, personalized and gourmet wedding gifts. Mini jars of these daily drinks are not only elegant and classy but useful as well. Imagine your guests enjoying a warm, relaxing cup of their favorite beverage while reminiscing about your wedding. So pick out your favorite gourmet blend and show your guests your appreciation with a delightful cuppa joe!

Bubbly Bounties

If you’re looking for an extravagant wedding favor, your search ends here. Miniature bottles of whiskey, vodka and other spirits are the way to go. What could be more festive than having your wedding guests pop open their own personalized bottles of champagne during the wedding toast! There are a million ways to glam up these gifts with glitter, color, ribbons and other shiny things and make these mementos ones that your guests will talk about for eons to come.

Scented Sensations

If your favors aren’t going to be edible, at least make them aromatic. Scented candles, essential oils, soaps, bath and sea salts and potpourri make for unbelievably chic and exotic wedding favors. Whether you want your wedding to symbolize love, peace or fun, there are scents you can present for every mood and theme. These scents will invoke memories of your wedding day for years on end.

Tasteful Table Utilities

Table utilities as wedding favors could be just about anything. You can really let your imagination run wild with this one. Be it a beautiful set of custom-made coasters, an elegant photo frame displaying your guests’ place cards, bottle openers with the invitees’ names, or paperweights that represent the wedding theme, the possibilities are endless. Whatever you opt for, these thoughtful indulgences will truly be special surprises.

Favors truly are worth the effort and price you will invest in them. Guests look forward to receiving them, so make sure they’re functional, fun, meaningful and won’t be left behind. They’re tokens of appreciation and needn’t be overly extravagant. Just remember to offer what you can afford, but something that you would appreciate receiving. Happy shopping!

5 Drinking games for the unconventional bridal shower!

Planning a crazy bridal shower for someone you love, but can’t figure what games to have? Well look no further, we snooped around to figure what others are doing to help you plan the perfect bridal shower for your sweet!

Check them out:

Read His Mind

Before the couple become one, let’s find out how well she knows him! A week or two before the shower, ask the groom twenty revealing questions about himself! Questions can be saucy and/or sickly romantic: “If you could burn one thing in your groom-to-be’s closet, what would it be,” is just one example.

At the shower, ask the bride to guess the answer to each question. Then, play his videotaped response. Each time the bride gets it wrong, the bride takes a shot, the more questions she gets wrong, the more sloshed she gets!

Two Truths and a Lie

This is a great icebreaker for guests who are just getting to know each other. Each guest tells the group three experiences she has had with the bride or groom; two are true, one is a lie.

Guests then guess which one they think is a lie, the person who guesses wrong takes a shot 😀

First Kiss Bridal Shower Game

From butterfly kisses to full-on tongue kissing action, everyone has a great ‘first kiss’ story to tell! Starting with the bride, ask each guest to tell her first kiss story.

At the end, your guests vote on the funniest or most romantic story. A great twist is to have everyone tell two stories: one about their best kiss and another about their worst kiss. Each person takes a shot when they tell their worse story, the bride takes a shot for every great one!

Rib it on!

One of the best games is also a great ice-breaker and involves nothing but a piece of string. As your guests arrive, give them the ball of ribbon and scissors and instruct them to cut off as much as they think they want—and remain quiet when they ask, “Need for what?”

As the night progresses and everyone is nice and drunk — get everyone together and compare the length of each person’s ribbon ( you all know what this represents ladies!), starting with the shortest, each person drinks!

Tighty Whities!

Tighty whities have never looked this good! Ask everyone to write notes to the groom on a pair of men’s underwear. You can choose a theme like “dirty advice” or “sweet best wishes” or leave it up to your guests. Then, make the bride wear the tighty whities for the rest of the party.  As each message is read the person whose message it takes a shot with the bride!

Says Simran, who married her beau Hiren at  Munjoh resort,” Right from the onset we were certain that we didn’t want a run of the mill wedding. We both have respect for traditions but both felt that Indian weddings tend to be an unnecessarily drawn out affair. Something that just didn’t appeal to us. Since our location was so stunning, a lot of our activities were centered on the beautiful beach where we got married”

Although Simran warns,”The islands are still fairly untouched by commercialization so there are actually no decorators available there!  I anyway dislike a lot of decoration and wanted the kind of more organic stuff that was around when my parents got married. Simple genda and mogra decoration, which the resort staff pulled off beautifully!”

She adds,”As a token of thanks, we took everyone scuba diving after the wedding. In fact one of my cousin’s proposed to his girlfriend under water, he had a ring and everything! And we arranged for champagne for them when they got out”

Pour Me Some...

Pour Me Some…

The array of creative cocktails at weddings adds the  excitement to the festivities. With more and more Indian weddings becoming destination weddings and different themes & styles being adopted, alcoholic beverages have become an integral part of the menu. It is important for couples to note that incorrect management of alcohol at weddings can create two major problems –  it can be an expensive affair and an overflow of alcohol or the wrong mix of beverages can make guests sick.

Having said that we do not expect couples to control how much and what guests consume but perhaps choose alcohol appropriately for the occasion to minimize negative consequences. Before we guide you on the kind of beverages that can be made available to guests at weddings, it is best to check how to cater for those beverages.

  1. If you think you have a high number of guests who drink alcoholic or have a huge guest list to begin with, it is best to check the possibility of buying your own alcohol and paying a corkage charge at the venue. Some hotels will allow this and some won’t. The advantage of this is that alcohol can be purchased at a cheaper rate than being offered at the venue and you can ensure the selection includes everything you require. The drawback to this is ensuring bottles are opened as and when needed and a correct tab is being kept of consumption.
  2. Another option widely available these days is to pay a fixed charge which is inclusive of beverages. This works well if your beverage list features the standard selection of wines, beer and spirits.

Once you’ve chosen a method that works best for you or is available to you, you can make a selection of beverages. We recommend choosing beverages based on the kind of event it is. Here’s a roundup of some beverages that can be offered:

Wines/ Champagnes It is best to opt for this if you are having a sit down dinner style reception or wedding function. The style of consumption is slow and steady therefore sipping on it while enjoying an elaborate meal is the best option.

Spirits & Cocktails These are a good option for a regular reception or wedding function where guests are mingling with other guests. It is best suited to events that don’t have any dancing involved; with a pre-reception area or a bar facility before guests move to a buffet style dinner.

91d7d833202bd4e7c15389c08953aa1fShots & Shooters A complete favorite with the younger generation these days, this is a popular choice for a youngster’s party or sangeet. The dancing, music and excitement in the air create an ambiance where guests feel the need to consume something that is more hard-hitting.

Blushing-BrideThere is no hard and fast rule to choosing alcohol for weddings but do note it is important to budget it right and to ensure your source is providing you alcohol that is of good quality and has been stored correctly. Overlooking these aspects generally creates an unwanted scenario which you definitely want to avoid. Thus count it right, source it right and serve it right and we ensure you, your guests will turn your wedding in to one crazy party.
