The list of licenses you require to factor in when planning your Wedding / Sangeet ceremony :)

Why you should get married on Gudi Padwa by The Wedding Planners Diary

People often ask me, what is the most important aspect when you plan a wedding for your client? What do we as clients need to account for?

Before any wedding function takes place, there are a set of licenses which one requires to acquire to ensure a glitch-free wedding.  Most hotels provide clients the list of licenses, which they would require to be submitted to them 24 to 48 hours before the function begins. There may be slight differences in the list provided, depending on the agenda of the function.

Let us hypothetically consider a sangeet function which has everything in it, A closed door invite only event. It is a wedding ceremony filled with loads of fun and frolic with Live Entertainment and a DJ Party to follow.

The list of licenses you would require are:

  • Rangbhoomi License
  • No objection Certificate from the Additional Collectors office
  • No Objection Certificate from the Local Police Station
  • No Objection Certificate from the Traffic Police Department
  • No Objection Certificate from the Fire Brigade
  • Police Commissioners Note

The above licenses come as a cluster of licenses common for any event.

For the DJ at your event, you require:

  • Phonographic Performance Ltd License: For any music apart from music by Yashraj Films.
  • Novex: This license is acquired for any music used at the event which is by Yashraj Films.

Entertainment

If you are having any Live Performance at your event, then you require:

  • IPRS: It stands for Indian Performing Rights Society Ltd. It is issued for any Live Entertainment you plan to have at your event.

2PK_5658

Other Licenses Required:

  • Liquor License
  • Public Works Department License: You need to get this when you have a generator at your wedding function.
  • Foreign Artist Permission: Whenever you have people from another nationality performing at your event, you require to submit their documents i.e passport and visa copy to the authorities.

champagne

Documents you will require to get these licenses:

  • Floor Plan from the venue
  • No Objection Cerificate from the Venue
  • Letter of Application to different licensing departments on your wedding planner’s company’s letter head along with an affidavit on a stamp paper.
  • Visa and contract copy between the artists and employee company if you have any foreign artists performing. It would be preferable in this case to get artists on a business visa and not an employment visa.

More often than not, it is advisable to ask the hotel what licenses they would require for the event and accordingly proceed.

So given above are the list of licenses required for your wedding, we are here to respond to any queries you may have, please feel free to post your feedback in our comments section 🙂

Would love to hear from you!

Planning a Destination Wedding? Rajasthan is the place to be!

Rajasthan, literally translated, means ‘the land of kings’. It’s true that even when Indians think about Rajasthan, the first adjective that comes to mind is ‘royal’.

There is a historical and cultural richness in Rajasthan that remains unmatched. So if you’re wedding planning is for a kingly affair, this grand destination is the place for you.

We list down our picks of 8 venues in Rajasthan to consider when planning your destination Wedding!

1.Rambagh Palace – Jaipur

Rambagh Palace belongs to the Taj Group of Hotels and is the ideal place for you if you’ve always dreamed of having an opulent wedding that you want to customize, right down to the table centerpieces at your reception. The venue is complete with an amphitheater for the sangeet and lush gardens for the cocktail reception. The hotel even offers a traditional Indian baraat complete with elephants to sanctify your celebration.

Our favourite picks for your Sangeet and Wedding Music!

With wedding season in full swing, it is time to dance till you drop. This post is about our picks of songs you can use to make your wedding/sangeet as memorable as can be!

Let’s begin with some high energy tracks for your Sangeet:

The “Gulabo” song (the movie Shaandar) is perfect to start with. This peppy yet not too jarring song will act as the instant mood setter for the evening.

The “Galla Gudiya” song (the movie Dil Dhadakne Do) with its punjabi dance masti flavour will be great for performing in a group or for a couple like chacha-chachi or mama-mami performing on stage.

The “Kar Gayi Chul” song (the movie Kapoor and Sons) has a hint of mischief and flirtatious fun. The young cousins of the bride and groom can get the guests grooving for the fun-filled evening with the help of this song.

The “Chittiya Kalaiyan” song (the movie Roy) is a foot tapping number with appreciation for feminine beauty and is a instant hit with all the women. The pretty bride or her cousins dancing on this number makes for a great idea.

Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hain” song (the movie Khoobsurat) will heighten the enthusiasm quotient among the relatives and guests. Even if there’s no performance planned on this song, it will definitely attract enthusiastic and spontaneous dancers on stage or on the dance floor.

With the excitement hitting the roof, the next best suggestion definitely is “Dj Wale Babu Mera Gana Chala De” and when it plays no one will be able to resist the dance floor!!

Sunny Leone’s “Baby Doll” song definitely deserves mention here. With a solo or a young girls group performance on this, the Sangeet hall will definitely be buzzing with high octane energy.

The “Afghan Jalebi(the movie Phantom) song with its peppy foot tapping Arabic theme music, is an instant hit with the crowd and a cousins performance on this number will definitely make the energy levels hit the roof.

The “Tu Meri” song (the movie Bang Bang) buzzing with energy is perfect for the young crowd to get their groove on.

The “Badtameez Dil” song (the movie Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani) is needless to say meant for a power packed performance by the bride and groom’s friends and cousins. Such a song will get the foot tapping and hearts racing.

For the Mumbaiya tapori fun song, we have the “Tu Mere Agal Bagal” song (the movie Phata Poster Nikla Hero). Performance on this song will definitely be hilarious to watch.

Our picks for the best romantic songs!

The “Sab Tera” song (the movie Baaghi) is a very soothing romantic number which will be heart warming if performed by the bride and the groom.

The “Pehla Nasha” song (the movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander) is an evergreen song loved through out generations. This song creates an ambience of love like no other song.

The “Samjhawan” song (the movie Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya) is again an enchanting love song perfect for the new couple.

The “Pehli Nazar Main” song (the movie Race) of Atif Aslam with its melodious and scintillating rhythm, makes it a good choice for a close dance by the couple.

The “Rabta” song (the movie Agent Vinod) sets a soothing Sufi love environment. It can be used as a dedication from the bride to the groom. Also a popular song for Bridal Entry.

The “Teri Or” song (the movie “Singh is King”) will look very romantic if performed by any couple on stage.

The “Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi” song (the latest album with Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor) is a remix of an evergreen romantic song of the 1990s. It will make for a cute dedication from the groom to his bride.

Do let us know which one is your favourite 🙂

Unique Entries for the Indian Groom

97f44f3fc4e384d50d3d7636d48ac20e.jpgEvery Indian wedding has that moment, as the family and friends await the arrival of the groom, the entry of the baraat, the commencement of the celebrations. And while traditionally, the groom would arrive on a white horse, why not mix things up a little, and make a grand entry, one everyone is going to remember and talk about for years to come? Here are some of our top picks for unique entries ishtyles for the groom!

Vroom-in in style!

Why come in on a horse when you can ride in on a Harley or Enfield instead? Better yet, get your baraat to make an entry in style with a biker group, the engines playing a melody of their own! After all, what could possibly be hotter than a groom on a bike?

2526f59ddcd7e5a9d4a355c579dc8fab

Quirky Desi Entry

Go desi and have a few laughs by making an entry on a tractor or a scooter, or even better still, ride in in a decked up auto-rickshaw! Not only will this create a light moment and break the ice between families, it will also be a moment to always remember!

bride-and-groom-honeymoon-items-items-to-throw-at-bride-and-groom-wedding-entry.jpg

Go Classy with Vintage

Nothing speaks classy like making an entry in a vintage luxury car! If you’re ready to splurge a little, these cars can be rented for the night of your wedding. Imagine getting out of a chauffeur driven luxury car, and after the wedding, taking your bride home in that!

Go Traditional, really traditional!

Why only a white horse? Travel like the Maharajas did! Enter your wedding venue on a royal elephant, complete with decoration and seating like that of a king. The sheer size of the gesture is sure to make an impact on the guests awaiting your entry!

886e6659505a76fcbe084ade4778d160.jpg

Segaway

Be cute, and be tech-savvy! Ride in on a Segaway hoverboard and charm your family to-be with a few laughs along the way! It’s convenient and completely different. What’s more, if your bride is willing (and has prior experience), lead her to the waiting car after the wedding on a Segaway as well. Now that would a vidai to remember!

img_5714.jpg

A wedding flash mob!

Imagine getting out of your car, getting in line with your family and greeting the guests waiting to start the rituals of the groom’s entry. And suddenly music plays out from the background, and one by one your baarat starts breaking into a choreographed dance. And you join in as well! This entry is not only delightful, but a beautiful way to introduce your family and announce your entry. Imagine everyone’s delight as they witness this unique entry style!

Sinful Alternatives to Mithai for the Indian Sweet Tooth!

PIC-1.png

When we think of sweets at Indian weddings, be it the favours gifted with the invitation, or during the wedding days itself, probably the first one that comes to mind is the delicious motichoor laddoo. The huge dried motichoor laddoo is synonymous with weddings, with halwais offering beautiful packaging for individual laddoos specially to be given to guests. But with changing times, couples are progressively looking for newer alternatives for sweets, away from the desi-ghee laden sweets that can be quite difficult on the tummy. Here are our top picks for replacements for mithais, that will leave your guests impressed and talking!

84c3a194-d1a6-499b-9b32-bbae1d76e241.jpg

Cupcakes

These tiny cakes have been all the rage for the last few years, so who says they can’t be a part of your wedding as well? Wow your guests with an assorted box full of exotic cupcakes ranging from dark chocolate, mocha to red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and no one will be missing that kaju katli! Cupcakes also make for beautiful displays at the wedding itself, with tiered cake stands and multiple colours standing out among all food items.

ElectionSmarties.jpg

Gems / M&Ms

Several customs at weddings involve guests meeting the couple to give gifts or blessings, and then feeding them a mithai as shagun. While this is a heart-warming tradition, after being fed 5-10 pieces of heavy sweets, it can be a pretty taxing experience for the bride and groom. Gems or M&Ms offer a nice reprieve from the sweet overload as they’re small in size, add colour to the ceremony, and present a pleasant novelty for the guests!

how-to-make-marshmallows-960x420.jpg

Flavoured marshmallows

Another item that is not too sweet, and adds colour without adding heaviness is marshmallows. You can couple them with other candies to create an interesting assortment box or display. And if you’d like to really go fancy at your venue, add a fondue! Choose the candy of your choice to dip, coat it with the fondue, add sprinkles to make it pretty and pop it in your mouth for a burst of flavours! Pretty and delightful!

DFDFALL1_grande.jpg

Chocolate coated dry fruits

Dry fruits are traditional gifts at weddings. But add a dash of chocolate coating, and you have innovative sweets that are sure to be a favourite! Chocolate coated dry fruits are available in the market, and can also be made-to-order from a chocolatier. Easy to make and so much healthier, you just can’t go wrong with these!

jurkjes_pastelkleuren.jpg

Macaroons

Nothing says sophisticated like a macaroon. These delicious Italian-French delicacies are full of subtle flavours not available in any other traditional sweet, be it lavender, rose or apricot-black tea! These small pastel coloured desserts aren’t just tasty to eat, but also add classiness to any décor with beautiful macaroon towers from which guests can pluck out the macaroon of their choice to taste!

unnamed.jpg

Fruit arrangement

Last, and by far the most classic is a fruit arrangement. Go healthy and stylish by carefully designed and manicured fruit arrangements at your venue from small singular bowls to entire towers and sculptures made of fruits! With centrepieces and buffet displays so beautiful, you’ll almost feel bad digging into them to eat!

With so many unique options, why go with the same old mithai when you can be trendy and different? Believe us, a lot of tummys and taste buds will be thanking you!
