This couple handcrafted their entire wedding…Insane DIY ideas! Their cute dog was their Videographer.

When wedding photographers Cathy and Sebastian decided to tie the knot, they knew what they wanted. The couple got married in August last year and from the get go, the one thing that they focussed on was to enjoy the entire process and on making everything they needed by themselves!

Says Cathy, their wedding was relaxed, DIY and focussed on their friends and themselves and their Pinterest mood board was their main source of inspiration.

Cathy and Sebastian’s wedding ceremony was unique and was neither religious nor civil. It was guided by their friend Oscar who played a game with all guests singing an old song from their childhood called El Anillo (The Ring). Between each verse, their closest friends would read something to them and the song would continue. Then at the end, they exchanged Vows and Rings!

The catering was from Roberto Galvez Banqueteria, but amazingly by the guests themselves. Guests brought along desserts, salads and other amazing dishes to create a potluck. After lunch, guests grabbed a blanket and created a massive picnic dessert area of sorts.

If their wedding wasn’t already unique enough, the cherry on the cake was added by the bride’s homemade dress and the fact that their pet corgi, Leica was the videographer 😀

“We made almost everything by our own hands. We silkscreened table cloths, made concrete chandeliers and did all the floral arrangements. Also, we hired and hung all the Tuscan light bulbs and the pendants at the venue. For my wedding dress, I had bought a dress from Modcloth, but it didn’t fit me so I redesigned it with my friend Natalia. In the end, we only kept the top of the dress and were very lucky to find the same colour in a fabric store in Santiago for the bottom. I also made my headpiece with some crin flowers (a technique that uses horse hair to make the flower shapes)” says Cathy

The couple saved money by picking a venue which had never hosted a wedding before. It was a risk but luckily it worked out!

“The best thing about planning our wedding was being together, doing things for our friends and knowing that everybody was going to have such a good time that day”, she concluded. “The worst thing was not knowing who was going to be there or not, right up until the last minute we had guests confirming if they were coming or not!”

They advise future brides and grooms to try to enjoy the whole process. Enjoy every single thing about the wedding day, even the things that go wrong.

The laughter you’ll have together about it, days or months after the wedding, is amazing.

In retrospect, there was nothing they could have done differently. It turned out better than all that they thought it could be!

This delicious pastry makes for a great Wedding Favor and is an amazing dessert item for your wedding menu!

For those of you who have not tried it before, Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey. It is characteristic of the cuisines of the Levant, the Caucasus, Balkans, Maghreb, and of Central and West Asia.

This Mouth watering pastry tastes unbelievable when it is topped with Fresh Cream and Pistachio or (a personal favorite) when it is warmed up slightly and topped with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Nestled within an unassuming residential building in Mumbai, there exists a kitchen which dishes out authentic Baklava with all the original flavors passed down through time immemorial.

Not only that, Turkish Affaire, started by Neeta Talreja, offers only Pure Vegetarian Baklava which has a shelf life of a month without refrigeration!

Crushed Pistachio kernels are nestled between layers of hand stretched filo pastry, topped with rose, honey, and pure clarified butter.

They offer some great options too, in addition to the classic recipe, they have varieties of flavors such as Salted Caramel, Date and Walnut, Mixed Nuts etc.

Says Neeta,”We go to great lengths to make sure our clients have a fantastic overall experience. We meet them and understand exactly what they are looking for in terms of personalisation and packaging. Our goal is to offer a great product with great value and convenience. Once a client has placed an order with us for Favors, they no longer have anything to worry about”

“We are different from our competitors because we offer a taste of original Turkish Baklava which is impossible to find in Mumbai”, Says Neeta.

This interactive and unique concept for weddings will blow your mind!

We all love weddings, with innovation at its peak in today’s day and age, happily-weds-to-be, and guests are always expecting to do and experience something unique when they attend a wedding.

Started in 2016,‘The Perfume Bar’ is one such unique concept, where you get to entertain and engage your guests in a way that helps them create their own fragrance!

The concept stems from the idea that the fragrance someone wears is an extension of their personality and it offers a very unique experience when you can customize and make it yourself.

Their scents are designed for everyone and are made with the finest ingredients and blended to perfection with minute attention to detail paid to the elegant packaging of the product which BTW, can be totally customized as per your specifications 🙂

It is set-up as a live counter at any venue: indoors or outdoors and is an amazing activity for guests at a Mehendi function which also doubles up as a counter for wedding favors or at any wedding function. You can also organize a Perfume Party or a workshop where people can get together and try their hand at creating their own fragrance.

Says Apeksheet Pednekar from The Wedding Co.,”We worked with the Perfume Bar for a Mehendi function at JW Marriott, Mumbai. It was on a beautiful summer evening and guests were left amazed at how easy and creative the idea was, I personally received at least 3 more inquiries!”

The person to reach for the above goodness is Hussain and the number you can reach him on +91-9820044787.

We definitely like the idea, what do you think?

The most unique feature is their ability to help do underwater weddings, they have their very own dive shop with state of the art equipment and experienced & friendly staff, certified and trained by the international ‘PADI’ & ‘SSI’ association.

Getting married under turquoise waters filled with beautiful coral gardens and its colorful residents- from starfish to giant clams and mysterious turtles to dugongs and angelic manta rays would be an experience in itself!

Says Simran, who married her beau Hiren at  Munjoh resort,” Right from the onset we were certain that we didn’t want a run of the mill wedding. We both have respect for traditions but both felt that Indian weddings tend to be an unnecessarily drawn out affair. Something that just didn’t appeal to us. Since our location was so stunning, a lot of our activities were centered on the beautiful beach where we got married”

Although Simran warns,”The islands are still fairly untouched by commercialization so there are actually no decorators available there!  I anyway dislike a lot of decoration and wanted the kind of more organic stuff that was around when my parents got married. Simple genda and mogra decoration, which the resort staff pulled off beautifully!”

She adds,”As a token of thanks, we took everyone scuba diving after the wedding. In fact one of my cousin’s proposed to his girlfriend under water, he had a ring and everything! And we arranged for champagne for them when they got out”

You will not believe how this Indian bride blended her Indian tradition with her husbands Texas Charm!

When Priya Sambasivan met Ryan Foster through OkCupid, the first meeting lasted 7 hours! The connect was so strong, it seemed like a glove fitting over one’s hand. In Priya’s words,”The date felt like a long, slow exhale of breath I’d been holding for years”.

“We just fit together,” says Ryan. “We had similar values and philosophy of living but enough differences to help each other grow. She laughed at my stupid jokes, and my jaw dropped when I saw how beautiful she was.”

Two years later, the couple was tying the knot at the Hamilton Station Vineyards in North Virginia and it is just amazing how they blended each others culture and tradition within their wedding!

Everything from Priya’s dress to the wedding ceremony to the food was just fabulous as seen in the photos 🙂
