This couple handcrafted their entire wedding…Insane DIY ideas! Their cute dog was their Videographer.

When wedding photographers Cathy and Sebastian decided to tie the knot, they knew what they wanted. The couple got married in August last year and from the get go, the one thing that they focussed on was to enjoy the entire process and on making everything they needed by themselves!

Says Cathy, their wedding was relaxed, DIY and focussed on their friends and themselves and their Pinterest mood board was their main source of inspiration.

Cathy and Sebastian’s wedding ceremony was unique and was neither religious nor civil. It was guided by their friend Oscar who played a game with all guests singing an old song from their childhood called El Anillo (The Ring). Between each verse, their closest friends would read something to them and the song would continue. Then at the end, they exchanged Vows and Rings!

The catering was from Roberto Galvez Banqueteria, but amazingly by the guests themselves. Guests brought along desserts, salads and other amazing dishes to create a potluck. After lunch, guests grabbed a blanket and created a massive picnic dessert area of sorts.

If their wedding wasn’t already unique enough, the cherry on the cake was added by the bride’s homemade dress and the fact that their pet corgi, Leica was the videographer 😀

“We made almost everything by our own hands. We silkscreened table cloths, made concrete chandeliers and did all the floral arrangements. Also, we hired and hung all the Tuscan light bulbs and the pendants at the venue. For my wedding dress, I had bought a dress from Modcloth, but it didn’t fit me so I redesigned it with my friend Natalia. In the end, we only kept the top of the dress and were very lucky to find the same colour in a fabric store in Santiago for the bottom. I also made my headpiece with some crin flowers (a technique that uses horse hair to make the flower shapes)” says Cathy

The couple saved money by picking a venue which had never hosted a wedding before. It was a risk but luckily it worked out!

“The best thing about planning our wedding was being together, doing things for our friends and knowing that everybody was going to have such a good time that day”, she concluded. “The worst thing was not knowing who was going to be there or not, right up until the last minute we had guests confirming if they were coming or not!”

They advise future brides and grooms to try to enjoy the whole process. Enjoy every single thing about the wedding day, even the things that go wrong.

The laughter you’ll have together about it, days or months after the wedding, is amazing.

In retrospect, there was nothing they could have done differently. It turned out better than all that they thought it could be!

This interactive and unique concept for weddings will blow your mind!

We all love weddings, with innovation at its peak in today’s day and age, happily-weds-to-be, and guests are always expecting to do and experience something unique when they attend a wedding.

Started in 2016,‘The Perfume Bar’ is one such unique concept, where you get to entertain and engage your guests in a way that helps them create their own fragrance!

The concept stems from the idea that the fragrance someone wears is an extension of their personality and it offers a very unique experience when you can customize and make it yourself.

Their scents are designed for everyone and are made with the finest ingredients and blended to perfection with minute attention to detail paid to the elegant packaging of the product which BTW, can be totally customized as per your specifications 🙂

It is set-up as a live counter at any venue: indoors or outdoors and is an amazing activity for guests at a Mehendi function which also doubles up as a counter for wedding favors or at any wedding function. You can also organize a Perfume Party or a workshop where people can get together and try their hand at creating their own fragrance.

Says Apeksheet Pednekar from The Wedding Co.,”We worked with the Perfume Bar for a Mehendi function at JW Marriott, Mumbai. It was on a beautiful summer evening and guests were left amazed at how easy and creative the idea was, I personally received at least 3 more inquiries!”

The person to reach for the above goodness is Hussain and the number you can reach him on +91-9820044787.

We definitely like the idea, what do you think?

You will not believe how this Indian bride blended her Indian tradition with her husbands Texas Charm!

When Priya Sambasivan met Ryan Foster through OkCupid, the first meeting lasted 7 hours! The connect was so strong, it seemed like a glove fitting over one’s hand. In Priya’s words,”The date felt like a long, slow exhale of breath I’d been holding for years”.

“We just fit together,” says Ryan. “We had similar values and philosophy of living but enough differences to help each other grow. She laughed at my stupid jokes, and my jaw dropped when I saw how beautiful she was.”

Two years later, the couple was tying the knot at the Hamilton Station Vineyards in North Virginia and it is just amazing how they blended each others culture and tradition within their wedding!

Everything from Priya’s dress to the wedding ceremony to the food was just fabulous as seen in the photos 🙂

And also,”you may now kiss the bride!”

The buffet included a lavish spread of Indian foods and the globally famous Texas Barbecue! The wedding favours were cutely decorated boxes with Macaroons!

We love how the colour has been coordinated with Priya’s outfit 🙂

It’s the time to party!

The slipper-hooks are adorable!

What this father did at his sons wedding will shock you and then leave you in awe!

As far as wedding gift ideas go, we have a gazillion options for products which can be gifted and if nothing else, there is always the envelope filled with money and a coin for shagun. But what Rakesh Vaishnav asked for was something you can never ever imagine.

When Rakesh Vaishnav decided to get his two sons, Arun and Alpesh married, he envisioned setting an example which has never been set before. The wedding took place at Ramganjmandi town in Kota Rajasthan.

To give you a bit of background, Rakesh lost a family member from complications owing to lack of blood and has since been donating blood regularly.

So at his sons weddin, he saw and opportunity and seized it and requested his guests to give him just one gift, that of donating blood. He set up a blood donation camp at the wedding venue.

Even the wedding invitations read,”Uphaar ho to aisa, raktdan jaisa” (no better gift than blood donation).

While he made it clear to his guests, that in no way should they feel obliged to donate, his efforts inspired so many of his guests to actively participate in a cause that can make a huge difference to the current state of affairs in the country.

His request did inspire many attendees at the wedding to donate their blood, including his 21-year-old nephew Rahul Vaishnav and guest Saroj Sharma, who at aged 39 donated blood for the very first time. As many as 26 units of blood had been collected in one afternoon, and more was expected to be donated in the evening.

This wedding camp is not Rakesh’s only initiative. He has also worked on awareness campaigns, encouraging others to donate blood and assisting those in need of a donation. “I started a group called ‘Raktdata Jeevandata Samooh’ in 2012. It is connected with voluntary blood donation organizations in nine states and provides blood to the needy people,” he said.

All we can say is kudos, we can not draw enough inspiration from you Mr.Rakesh Vaishnav, and it’s such small beautiful gestures by citizens which will make our great country a shining light on the global stage.

A wedding story which will make you cry…and then smile because love always wins!

After a petty family dispute, Lalita Bansi was scarred for life when her idiot and scum cousins threw acid on her in their village in Azamgarh, UttarPradesh in 2012.

This brave heart did not let this affect her spirit and moved on, undergoing 17 surgeries at Mumbai’s Bombay Hospital and has 12 more to go.

As fate would have it, the universe aligned to give Lalita the life she actually deserved after she got a response from a wrong number she had dialled. When the person called back, Lalita had scolded him and he had hung up.

He called back 15 days later to explain what had happened and that is when cupid struck!

Rahul kumar, a data entry operator from Malad was smitten by how frank a nature Lalita has and proposed to her after a couple of months of phone conversation!

Rahul Says,””Sirf ek wrong number ne meri zindagi badal di, Three months ago, I got a missed call from an unknown number. When I called back, I was scolded and I disconnected the call.”

That’s when the love story began.

“Within 15 days of talking to Lalita, she told me her face was burnt. I told her, ‘Jinka chehra jala hota hai unki life nahi hoti kya? Tum bus tayaar ho, main tumse shaadi karunga (Does someone whose face is burnt not have a life? You get ready, I am going to marry you)‘ and she agreed.”

“My parents had a love marriage so they didn’t have any problem with my choice,” he adds.

After two months of telephonic conversations, Rahul went to Lalita’s house to meet her and as they say, rest is history.

The wedding was held at the D’Silva Technical College in Dadar, central Mumbai, thanks to the efforts of Udyami Maharashtra along with the Acid Survivors Saahas Foundation, who made Lalita’s dream a reality.

There was a beautifully decorated mandap, a lavish food spread, celebrities in attendance, and the overwhelming media going click, click at the drop of a hat.

Some Photos of their Lovely wedding!

Lalita changed into a red bridal outfit and was joined by her make up artist.
Despite the chaos around her, not once did the smile vanish from her face.
The acid attack survivor had been preparing for this day for a month.

Mehendi and lavish jeweller adorned the beautiful bride!

The Groom Rahul Kumar

The Happily Married Couple.

We wish them the best life has to offer and a lot more!

Actor Vivek Oberoi graced the occasion with his presence and was kind enough to gift the newlyweds a new house 🙂

It takes a special kind of courage to overcome odds in life. Each individual is fighting their own battles and it is only love which brings people together.

We wish Rahul and Lalita a very happily married life together!

Guy Talk…

My story is not about love finding a happy ending, it is more about giving me the life I live today and me finding eternal love. It is about me and a very dear friend who showed me life is all about what you make it and nothing else, without even knowing how deeply I loved him and wanted to be with him.

self-love

I always grew up knowing I was different, for me, the background which I grew up in allowed me absolute freedom to be comfortable about who I was. Unfortunately, the country we live in does not allow us that freedom of expression, hence for a guy like me I went through hell either way, the only solace I had was home. Every time I pray to god, I feel blessed to have the parents I did, who supported me through the times I felt confused and told me I was not alone.

I used to live on the 4th Floor of the same building where he lived on the 2nd. While growing up, I went to an all boys school and he was with me through school, but I was confused about why I was never interested in the girls my friends used to want to ask out, why the boy conversations they had never interested me, why I always used to want to be with him, kid dish things like sitting on the same bench, I would get angry if he would not sit with me on the same bench. I was a dumb kid who did not understand why I used to feel that way, honestly and I was getting frustrated every day because I did not know what was wrong. There was this once where my parents thought they would ask me, and tried, but I somehow couldn’t even explain as to why I was frustrated . As time went by and we had internet, I started seeing why I was confused, I started finding many others who were like me, had been through what I had been through and I started realizing there was nothing wrong with me at all, I realized what I felt for him was LOVE.

Friendship

My dear friend although was not like I was, he was a macho jock type personality with a play boyish charm. I loved him since the time we spent growing up, watched him dating women, watched him marrying a fabulous person, all the while crying by myself, just hoping that although I cannot follow up on this and find out if this was even possible at least he is happy ( Yeah I know that sounds cliché, but it is true none the less ).

Reaching for Help

I started loving him more when I saw that ,as we started coming of age  and started  being more open and comfortable about who I was, the  same people I grew up  with started looking at me differently, many  unfortunately started to maintain a  distance from me, they would not  invite me for any plans or share any ‘guy’ things  about themselves with  me.

It was a time in my life where I wanted to be a recluse, shut myself off  from the  world and bury myself in my own misery, but HE was the only  reason I did not. This was the time which crafted my path for the rest of  my life.

He never treated me any different, he would first call me for any plans made,  I was his pillion rider for years on end with our little bike group that we had in our building , going on trips, drinking the same beer, sitting around the same camp fire, discussing his girlfriends, having the same fun. I was always the go to guy for him.

Although I never gave him an iota of an indication about how I felt for him, I felt selfless love from him. The innocent, selfless, comforting love that , for a person like me, was hard to come by.

Years passed, as our friendship went from strength to strength, so did my love for him. It was not infatuation, I genuinely fell in love with him.  I could not even think of being with another guy, however, I was and to this day remain a coward. I sit an wonder whether if I ever gave him an idea about how I felt, would I lose what I already have with him? I decided I would never talk to him about it.  Every day that he would meet a girl for marriage, he would call me to discuss how the meeting went, I would cry on the inside and laugh on the outside, but yet life was beautiful, I had my love close to me, the love who had absolutely no idea about how I felt, yet unknowingly gave me the most comforting feeling ever.

luv

Then one day, he found some one. She was a lawyer at a high profile firm in Mumbai. I was the first person she met, even before his parents. They got married, I was actually the best man at their wedding. With every passing day, I was finding it hard to watch them go about their daily lives, I will be honest, I felt like dying inside every time I saw them. They were the happiest couple I had seen. I decided it was time to move away.

I got into a Fashion Design institute in another city, again a cliché, but it was of a lot of interest for me always hehe. After completing my course, I spent some time travelling to different countries and working there, finally to settle in the United States. Today I am a successful Fashion Designer in San Francisco.

mystery-man

Years have passed, as I reminisce about the years gone by, I  think it was only because of the love I felt for him and the  love he showed me unknowingly , that I was able to get to  where I am today. I am in a relationship with an amazing  man today, and can be very open about it where I am today.

Its like the saying , “ You laugh at me because I am  different, I laugh at you because you are the same”.

Even though I never told him how I felt, I felt love which  defined how my life will be, and I thought it deserved a  mention . I hope wherever he is he is happy as we have lost  touch.
